Happy Halloween

We love Halloween so we wanted to do a quick post to show you how we decorated this year. Little children were fascinated by our graveyard. And of course you have to have plenty of treats for all of the little visitors you get on Halloween.

Haunted House

This time of year always has me thinking about ghosts and things that are haunted. With it being close to Halloween and all of the scary movies coming out at this time it is no wonder I am thinking about these things!

Haunted Houses

There are a lot of places that have haunted houses, corn mazes, and barns during this time of year. I love going through haunted houses. Even though you know it isn't real, what happens takes you by surprise and you can't help but be scared. After getting scared I can't help but laugh at how silly I am being.

Ghosts

Many haunted places use ghosts to help create the haunted ambiance. You also see a lot of people with ghost costumes for Halloween. Also Halloween is the best time for telling Ghost Stories!

Do you see the skeleton head too? Spooky right? Do you like visiting haunted places?

Things That Go Bump In The Night

Although, some of our followers live in countries that do not celebrate Halloween a scary movie marathon with a huge supply of candy is a Halloween tradition that everyone can take part in. I love scary movies so much that every few months I spend a weekend where I watch two or three horror movies. I love the moments in the movie that actually make you jump. As a little child the "monster" that scared me most was aliens. Although I love scary movies, I can never watch them alone. The most terrifying moments of movies can stick with me for years. Even though I saw the movie Arachnophobia more than 10 years ago, I still have the occasional moments while showering when my mind flashes to the scene in the movie were all of the spiders come out of the showerhead killing the lady taking a shower. And thanks to Stephen King clowns will forever remain scary creatures.

After a night filled with scary movies I always curl up in my bed under all of my blankets with all of the little noises in the dark keeping me on edge until morning.

Halloween Transformation

Halloween is a great time of year to go crazy with the decorations. During this time of year you can go in opposite directions with the decorations. You can go with the creepy, haunted house look or the cute, spooky look. While I do love haunted houses I prefer for my decorations to be cute. Even if you are not decorating for a Halloween Party you should still decorate for the Trick or Treaters that will come.
Pumpkins
Pumpkins are a must for any Halloween decorations. You can keep the pumpkin intact, but the interesting way to go is to use them for jack o'lanterns. You can cut cute faces or pictures into the pumpkins. A cute idea that I saw with jack o'lanterns is to place colored lights in them instead of candles. Then you have different colors of faces.
Lights
You need to have plenty of light. Orange and Purple seem to be the dominate colors for Halloween lights. You can use them to light the area or use them to create an image, like a spider web!
Bats
Bats are a decoration that can be creepy and scary or cute and a little spooky. You can have them hanging from the ceiling like in this picture or in other places.
Food
If you are having a party, I love the idea of the food being presented in a way that it is part of the decorations. Cookies and cupcakes should be decorated in a way that is following the Halloween theme. I would want shapes like pumpkins, ghosts, black cats, and owls for the cookies.
For my Halloween party I would want to incorporate the colors, black, orange, and purple into the food and decorations. I won't be having a Halloween Party this year, but hopefully next year. Are you going to be doing anything special?

In Disguise

I never was a fan of Halloween until a few years ago. And now I love everything about the holiday. I love the scary movies, the ghost stories, the decorations, the treats, the yearly watching of It's the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown, the trick or treaters, and the dressing up. Since Halloween is less than a month away it is time to start thinking about costume ideas. As a child I seldom liked my costumes and I always was incredibly embarrassed by how stupid I thought I looked, but now I realize that dressing up is so much fun. Halloween gives us one day a year were we can pretend to be anything we want no matter how old we are without other people thinking we are crazy (although that likely wouldn't stop me from dressing up on any random day anyway). Here's my picks for my favorite costume choices this year.

Angel Dressing up as an angel you get to wear wings and a pretty dress. Plus there is nothing sweeter or prettier.

Cleopatra Cleopatra was a strong leader, she was brave, she was obviously adored by more than just the people of her own country since more than just one Greek leader fell in love with her. This is a great costume because if you have a date this Halloween he can be your Marc Anthony.

Gypsy I like the idea of dressing as a gypsy because I can likely find the items for this costume at home in my closet already. Colorful or floral skirt or dress. Peasant blouse. Multiple scarves. A huge hoop earring and chunky bracelets. Throw these items on and then let the fun begin.

Native American I chose this costume because I think that a major Native American Headdress and gorgeous eye makeup would make a dramatic costume that would be sure to get you some attention.

A Victorian Lady Talking about dramatic costumes this is definitely another one. This costume made my list because I love all things girly. This is probably my favorite costume on my list.

Witch Witches do not have to be ugly. I think this lady looks very cute. And her slightly wild hair and caldron accessory totally sells me on her costume.

Trick or Treat

As part of our October posts we want to incorporate Halloween themed topics. With this being the first of October I know a lot of people are already planning their Halloween costumes. We all want plenty of time to get a costume together and to ensure that we have made the right decision. I also love the idea of giving your pets a costume like in the picture above. It would be easy to make a mane for an orange cat and then you have a miniature lion!
I think of Halloween as a magical time of the year. You can be anything or anyone that you want to be. I prefer costumes that are clearly not everyday wear. I want something unique and beautiful. Below are some of my ideas for a wonderful Halloween costume.

Geisha Girl
This is a great way to go as something beautiful and to incorporate something international. A gorgeous kimono and beautiful hairstyle go a long way in completing this costume.

Ballerina
This is a great costume if you are going for something very elegant and graceful.

Peacock
When I found this picture I knew I wanted to use it in my post. I love how creative this girl was. She took a beautiful blue dress, which can be used at time. Then she found some peacock feather patterened fabric and made a peacock tail that she tied around her waist. Some pretty eye makeup and feathers in her hair finish this creative look.

Butterfly
This look is so beautiful! If you are creative enough to make a dress this beautiful that incorporates butterfly details you can make an amazing butterfly for Halloween. I would finish this look of with some fabulous heels and maybe a set of wings.

Fairy
This is my absolute favorite idea! You get to be something that is beautiful, feminine, graceful, and magical!
I included this fairy incase you wanted to be a more colorful fairy. I favor the first fairy though.

Are you dressing up for Halloween? What are you going as?
