Last night a few friends and I had a little party for Rene's birthday. My friend Jorge has this really nice camera, and I've been wanting to get one like it for awhile. The pictures are just so much more defined. I need to start saving my money so I can get one! Here are a few pictures he took:

Party Down!

For New Years, we had a Classy New Years Eve party. I had the cutest vintage dress that was a Goodwill find and fit perfectly! Here's to an awesome 2011 and another year of drawings!

Catch a Few ZZZzz's

When I was in high school and middle school I loved to have sleepovers. One of the things that I looked to forward during the school year was getting to invite my friends over for sleepovers or going to their houses for sleepovers. We didn't really get a lot of sleep on those nights because we were too busy having fun. There are certain things that every girl needs for a sleepover: cute pajamas, a sleeping bag, and a bag to carry everything in.

When looking for pajamas I found all of these cute pajamas at Old Navy. I think the slippers are so cute.

Sleepover Necessities

You want to have a lot of fun and plenty of time to talk at your sleepovers. Every sleepover needs a ton of movies to watch all throughout the night. Of course you need lots and lots of junk food like pizza, chips, and icecream to eat during the movies. Magazines like Elle, Marie Claire, and Vogue are needed to look at fashion trends. Pretty nail polish shades are needed so you can paint each other nails. Facials are also good for sleepovers too.

Halloween Transformation

Halloween is a great time of year to go crazy with the decorations. During this time of year you can go in opposite directions with the decorations. You can go with the creepy, haunted house look or the cute, spooky look. While I do love haunted houses I prefer for my decorations to be cute. Even if you are not decorating for a Halloween Party you should still decorate for the Trick or Treaters that will come.
Pumpkins
Pumpkins are a must for any Halloween decorations. You can keep the pumpkin intact, but the interesting way to go is to use them for jack o'lanterns. You can cut cute faces or pictures into the pumpkins. A cute idea that I saw with jack o'lanterns is to place colored lights in them instead of candles. Then you have different colors of faces.
Lights
You need to have plenty of light. Orange and Purple seem to be the dominate colors for Halloween lights. You can use them to light the area or use them to create an image, like a spider web!
Bats
Bats are a decoration that can be creepy and scary or cute and a little spooky. You can have them hanging from the ceiling like in this picture or in other places.
Food
If you are having a party, I love the idea of the food being presented in a way that it is part of the decorations. Cookies and cupcakes should be decorated in a way that is following the Halloween theme. I would want shapes like pumpkins, ghosts, black cats, and owls for the cookies.
For my Halloween party I would want to incorporate the colors, black, orange, and purple into the food and decorations. I won't be having a Halloween Party this year, but hopefully next year. Are you going to be doing anything special?

It's What's On the Inside

As a little kid I was also excited at the idea of a pinata. They are so beautiful and colorful that you are not quite sure if you want to bust them or not....... BUT the temptation to know what is inside is just to much! You take turns trying to bust the pinata with your friends and the tension builds as another person goes and the pinata STILL remains intact. It is always a delightful surprise when the wonderful little gifts of candy and small toys come pouring out of the pinata. Afterwards there is still more fun as you rush to collect some of the small treasures for yourself.
I love all of the different shapes and colors that you can get pinatas in. You can easily obtain a pinata for any party theme and you can fill them with whatever you want to.

Two Faced

A party in which everyone shows up incognito could be a lot of fun and it just might keep you playing guess who all night. Masquerade parties and balls are held all around the world and I think they put an interesting spin on traditional parties. Lately, I've been day dreaming about attending an exquisite masquerade ball like Chuck, Blair, Nate, and Serena did in season 1 of Gossip Girl. Who wouldn't be trilled to attend an over the top party on the Upper East Side of New York especially when it filled with beautiful costumes and decorative masks hiding the identity of everyone attending? But I would be just as thrilled throwing a Masked Party for my dearest friends and laughing and playing games and dancing the night away. I think my favorite masks are rose and gold in color. And I love the use of feathers to make it more dramatic. Masquerade parties are great for numerous types of events from birthday parties, to Halloween parties, to formal events. But my favorite would occur when you just need a chance to dress up and have fun. While searching for masks online I was happily surprised that you can find great deals on ebay and Amazon.com. I've purchased several including a white and silver butterfly similar to the one above.

Happy 2010!!

Happy New Years everybody! I threw a super fun La Dolce Vita themed NYE party last night which went smashingly! Thank you to everybody who came by!! : D

Anyway, this also marks the end of my second "a drawing a day" project on my blog. I do have to admit- there were a few days in Nov/ Dec where the trip back from Italy and re-adjusting took its toll and I may be short of the 365 drawings, but all in all, I think it's still pretty complete!

What's my resolution for 2010 then?

365 more drawings! I'm doing a 100 girls in 100 days resolution with Girls Drawin Girls as well, so there may be some overlaps in my blog postings for the next three or so months ; D
