Here's the Scoop

July is national ice cream month! I mean is it any wonder? It is so hot (at least here it is) during July that you need a cool treat, like ice cream, to help you beat the heat. I love that ice cream comes in so many flavors, there is literally one out there for every one. Also, it comes in flavors that I would never think about like blueberry. Ice cream is also so pretty. Sometimes I get a flavor just because I think it is pretty. Superman and Mint Chocolate Chip are top of the prettiest flavors to me. If you haven't had a chance to enjoy some ice cream this July, you still have some time before National Ice Cream month is over so TREAT YOURSELF and maybe a friend.

Chunky Monkey Ice Cream

Life has been incredibly busy lately so we have had very little spare time to spend in the kitchen the last few weeks but we still crave our sweets. In our opinion there is nothing better than homemade treats. We found this recipe for Chunky Monkey Ice Cream. It only takes a few minutes to whip up and as a bonus this creamy, delicious treat is actually healthy. As the weather keeps heating up this ice cream is likely going to be a regular treat for warm evenings spent sitting on the deck.

Cheesecake Popsicle

One of my best friends had previously purchased a Zoku instant popsicle maker and a recipe book that could be used with it. A few weeks ago on a dreadfully hot day several of us were together and we decided to give it a try. After looking through the recipe book we decided to make Cheesecake Popsicles. Above you can see a picture of the recipe in the popsicle book. Below is a picture of the needed ingredients. After mixing together the ingredients(except for the graham cracker crumbs we sprinkled those on after they were made) we poured some into each of the openings in the Zoku maker. The first batch of popsicles needed to stay in the Zoku maker for around 5-6 minutes, each batch after that needed to stay an extra couple of minutes. We could make 9 popsicles before the Zoku maker had to be put back in the freezer. We each took one to each. We wrapped the extras in plastic wrap and stored them in the freezer for later. Below you can see mine pictured. Don't they look so delicious? These Cheesecake Popsicles were fantastic! They were more cake-like than icecream though. These were very filling and tastey. I would reccommend the Zoku maker to anyone. Have you seen them or tried them?

I Scream! You Scream!

We all know the saying "I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream!" Let's face is most of us love a good ice cream. Whether it is a bowl of your favorite ice cream, a sundae, an ice cream cone, gelato, or a popsicle; ice cream can provide a cool, tasty treat. During the summer I find myself reaching for a sweet, frozen treat more often than at other times during the year. The summer has been especially hot here with the temperature reaching the upper nineties most days and with heat advisories on most of those days. A great ice cream has been an easy way to help me stay cool.
I think these treats love absolutely amazing. My favorite is a caramel sundae. What's yours?
