Third Time's the Charm

{ F21 dress (worn as a skirt), top, belt & flats; necklace from some shop in England }

Last summer, I went to England to visit my dad's side of the family, and I ended up buying a crap-load of clothes and jewelry. I wanted to have things to wear that I didn't see on every other girl at the mall or at school. I think most girls enjoy that feeling, right? The problem is that I don't remember where the heck I bought all my accessories and such, so I'm stuck with describing them as "some shop in England". Just wanted to clarify I'm not deliberately not telling you where I got my items from, I simply can't remember. I do, however, remember getting this particular necklace at a grocery store that resembled America's Walmarts. Fellow Brits, help me out here!

Also, you may or may not have noticed I am, yet again, wearing my dress as a skirt. Yes, this is the 3rd time doing this in my 30x30 challenge, wanna fight about it? Joking. I did something a tad bit different this time though: I flipped the top of the dress inside the bottom part (as opposed to just wearing the whole dress underneath). I was surprised at how simple and non-poofy it was; I should've done that for this outfit instead of tucking my shirt into my belt. Now I know!

Happy Weekend!

English Wonders

( F21 shorts, Kohls top, Target sandals and bracelet )

My cousins from England have been having a great time while visiting America, but it's weird for me to be a tourist in a city I spend almost every day. They've been taking pictures of things I see to be mundane, yet to them, they've never seen anything like it. For example, yesterday we went to Walmart to pick up a couple things, and they said, "Take a picture of us!" In my mind I think, why on Earth would you want a picture in front of a Walmart... granted they have great low prices, but really? ... Then I remembered they don't have Walmarts in England, but they know what they are due to news, television, and movies (I'm guessing). My cousin Matthew even wanted a picture with a box of Lucky Charms cereal. I told him to next time go for the box of Frosted Flakes... they're much more photogenic.

So far I've taken them downtown to see the Alamo, the Riverwalk, and up to the Tower of Amreicas. One thing they noticed is how many drive-through places we have, and that they're not all McDonald's (which is the only one they have in England) haha. I want to take them to my city's theme park and maybe even take them to Austin to show them where I go to college. We all went and saw the Green Lantern last night which was pretty cool. I told them about the certain theaters we have that serve food during the movie (other than popcorn, hotdogs, nachos, etc) to which Matthew responded, "why is this country always eating?" ...ummm..... because it's good!

These pictures were taken on Father's Day, so of course I had to sneak a picture of my dad in here! Don't we look alike? Some people say I look like my mother, but I think that's just because they can't look past my hair and skin color (which matches my mother's exactly). With no makeup on and my hair pulled back, I look just like my father. We even used to have the same teeth! But in high school I got braces, so I didn't have a huge gap anymore. Trae said it best when he told me I'm like "a female sketch of my dad, but with my mom's coloring" haha he is so right. My dad is an amazing person, and I'm so grateful to have him in my life. I am my dad's one and only child, so it's nice not having to share him :) Love you, Dad.

The British are Coming!

In case you guys are just tuning in, I am half English. My dad is a %100 Brit, and I was also born over there! The first picture you see always cracks me up. I mean, seriously, I look like i walked into the wrong family!! Haha, just blame my mom for all of the Hispanic traits she gave me ;) Can you tell who is who with the most recent picture? It shouldn't be that hard! It's funny how I only have four cousins from my dad's side, but on my mom's side, I can't even count the number of cousins I have! Anyone else have a big family like that?

I wish I could bring my whole family from across the pond over here! Sadly, only two are coming to visit, but I'm still excited nonetheless! Their names are Matthew and Chloe (in the above photos), and they are the oldest of the four which I'm guessing is why they were the only ones able to travel by themselves all the way to the states! They are so different from each other, but compared to me, they both represent a separate part of my personality. Matthew is my intellectual side; we're both really smart, we both go to a university, and we both love to just chill out with a good movie. Chloe is my girly side; we both love shopping and enjoy going out to have a good time.

They arrive pretty late tonight, so I'll be picking them up at the airport around 10 pm. I can't wait to show them around Texas. I told my friend Daniela the other night, "I don't want them to think Texas is boring!" to which she replied, "But it is!!" haha thanks Daniela :P I, personally, love Texas. I just hope I can make them love it too! They are only here for two weeks, so I probably won't be posting as much as I'd like. But I guess we'll see! Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Home Sweet Home

F21 skirt and necklace
Old Navy tank
Steve Madden sandals
World Market scarf (worn as belt)
Urban Outfitters sunnies

Got back to San Antonio this afternoon; I'm glad to be back, but I already miss Washington DC! There's so much to do in that city. You would have to stay at least 2 weeks to fully see everything! Sigh. I'll be back for sure!

Next thing to look forward to: two of my cousins from England are coming to visit! I cannot waaaait! They have NEVER been to Texas, and one of them has never even been to the United States! Eeeeeeep! I definitely want to show them a fun time. In England, they are old enough to drink but coming here they will be under the age limit, ha! So no bars for them :P But I want to show them the beach, theme parks, downtown, shopping, etc... y'know the works! They are going to fry in this Texas heat haha.

Tomorrow I'll finally be getting my new bed frame & mattress delivered to the house we're moving into! Finallyyyyyyy. Ciao! :)

Ello Ello Ello

This title only sounds right when said in a British accent... C'mon say it, you know you want to!

Who's staying up to watch the Royal Wedding? Not me. I want to, but over here it won't be airing until 4 AM. Which means the wedding over in England will be at 10 AM. Huh. Seems a bit early for a wedding... But I guess when the whole world is watching, you have to make it a whole day event, yes? My cousin Matthew over in England told me today everyone over there is freaking out haha! I probably would be too.

I'm mainly curious to see what her dress looks like. I've always had this sort of fascination with wedding dresses and how different women go about choosing theirs. I love watching the show "Say Yes to the Dress" on TLC hehe. It's crazy how much we are willing to spend for a dress we're only going to wear once in our lives. Still, I've seen some girls able to buy a gorgeous dress for less than $500! Not bad, eh? I have a feeling I will be very indecisive when that day comes for me. If you're married, how did you go about choosing your dress? What made it the dress?

Oh! I forgot to mention Trae and I ordered our new DSLR camera last week so it should be coming in tomorrow or Saturday! Unfortunately, I don't get to use it, or even see it, until Mothers Day weekend (did you remember to get a gift? hmmmm?). I can't wait! I can finally start making this blog what I intended it to look like!

Yeesh. I am so relieved this week is finally over! At least for me it is since I don't have school on Fridays (sorry everyone else). Although I must confess, it went by pretty fast for me thanks to some of my classes being canceled. However, registration for Fall 2011 courses has been stressing me out. I need to take one last semester of Italian and when I went to register, it was all filled up! :( Argghhhh. This happens EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. I need a class for my degree, and I can't get into it. Thankfully, it's not just me that has to deal with this. Bleh! Alright, I'm done.

One last thing, I finally finished my Bucket List! I haven't created a link for it yet, but I will get right on it! In the meantime, you can see it here.

Cheerio!

Tudor inspired sketch

Been really into watching The Tudors lately! Love Anne Boleyn's character- would love to do more drawings based on Henry's wives!!
