Southern Charm

I like to consider myself a Southern Belle. I love the traditions associated with the South. The South is famous for "Southern Hospitality." Not only are Southerners known for their gracious hospitality but also for their good manners, generosity, and laid back attitude. You seldom enter a Southern home without being invited to spend the night and having a delicious meal prepared for you. Additionally, can anyone actually deny that they love a Southern drawl?

Another wonderful thing about the South is the fashion. I love the ladylike dresses, the hats, the seersucker, and men who dress like gentlemen.

Pinky Promise

Pink is my favorite color so I am excited to announce that today is National Pink Day. Celebrate this holiday by going pink. It is easy to incorporate pink in your day. It can be done by wearing pink, buying some fresh pink flowers, or eating pink food.

I am beginning to think that next year I should throw a pink party.

A Difference of Opinions

We have a hummingbird feeder outside our balcony, which Rocket and Inky LOVE to watch and "talk" to the hummingbirds that come by. I love it because, well, I love hummingbirds, but I think they love it for quite another reason altogether!!

Lunch Is On Me

A few weeks ago a few of my friends and I went to Louisville, KY for the day to get some shopping done. When we first got there we went downtown to go to some stores first. We went to the Hard Rock Cafe, the bookstore, and a couple other stores before going for lunch. We ate lunch at The Old Spaghetti Factory. It was my first time going and I can't wait to go back. One of my friends told me that The Old Spaghetti Factories are always in old buildings that have been remodeled for them. I think that is pretty cool. They are preserving what is already there just updating it so that it will fit their purpose. Inside it was beautiful with a lot of pretty chandeliers and light fixtures. I should have taken a picture. The food was so yummy. I got a chicken panini and homemade chips. Just thinking about it now, I wish I had some more. Here is a picture I took of my food. After that we went to the mall and some stores by the mall. We did a lot of shopping that day. We were at the mall for several hours before we there to go to some other stores nearby. After all that shopping we went to The Cheesecake Factory for some delicious cheesecake. It was so hard to decide what we wanted, because they have sooooo many options. Every one of them looked absolutely wonderful too! We all got something different. Below you can see the pictures we took of our pieces of cheesecake.

Original Cheesecake with Strawberries:
Red Velvet Cheesecake:
Caramel Pecan Turtle Cheesecake:
White Chocolate Caramel Macadamia Nut Cheesecake:

I had the last one pictured and it was so good especially the bites with the blondie brownie crust! YUM! Everyone loved their pieces though and they all look so scrumptious. You also get a big enough piece that we all ate half of ours their and took the rest for later.

Let's Do Brunch

Friends and family typically get together for dinner or lunch, usually overlooking brunch as an option. But brunch can be the perfect time to enjoy time with your loved ones. Brunch offers a lot of freedom with the planning. It can be kept extremely casual or very elegant. Menu items can be mixture of breakfast and lunch items. This would be an amazing setting to sit and enjoy your friend's company. My ideal brunch would consist of 3 courses. The first being a fruit salad, a main course with maybe an egg based dish or French toast and sides such as hashbrowns. Finally delicious sweet pasteries. And don't forget the Mimosas. Be sure to decorate with plenty of fresh flowers. Some activities I suggest if you host a brunch are:
* Screen cartoons from your childhood
* Pair up your guests to see who gets the Sunday puzzle done first
* Have an assortment of boardgames ready Today is also National Waffle Day. Waffles are extremely easy to make. Mmm wouldn't waffles be yummy for your next brunch.

What do you mean, it's closed every Sunday??

So, Sunday (Nov 22nd, if you're keeping track), Damon and I had a rocky start to our Sunday.

First, we woke up and our power went out. So, no hot water (couldn't get the pilot light lit to heat the water), so no shower, and no electricity.

Then, we were like, ok, let's go to brunch at that one place that looked like they have a good brunch. Get there, they're closed Sunday.

Ooo-k. So then, we think, fine, let's go food shopping at the Central Market and get stuff for dinner. And they're closed! And apparently, they've always been closed on Sundays. It seems we were traveling so much every single weekend, we never even noticed the market was closed every sunday.

(and there was a really gross pigeon who had a stump for a foot hanging around outside).

But, we ended up getting food elsewhere, we got the power situation back up and working, and all ended up happy : D

Too much of a good thing

Damon and I have noticed that while our legs are SUPER toned and in shape from the tons of walking we've been doing, the amount of good eatin' has certainly found it's way to our tummies!
