"Is This Thing On?" at Gallery 1988

THIS friday, January 7th, Gallery 1988 will have a huge art opening of a comedian-themed group show, which I had the honor and pleasure of being part of!

7020 Melrose Ave,
Los Angeles, CA 90038

please contact the gallery for inquiry/purchase/preview.

+ see the full list of "show bill" (who's painting whom) here!+

I was asked to paint Lisa Lampanelli and Amy Sedaris, which I had a lot of fun going back and watching their respective routines. Two raunchy ladies! My type of gals! ; D

Both their paintings were influenced by an over-arching "alice in wonderland" theme, which you'll understand when you see them!

Anyway, I can't WAIT to show you my two pieces! I will post pics after the opening tomorrow night! Hope to see you all there!

Swoon Show Wrap-Up!

Thank you to EVERYBODY who made it out last night to check out my show, hosted by Swoon Gallery and our friends at Tub Tim Siam!

It was a wonderful evening, and we had a great turn-out. I created over a dozen new original paintings for the show, as well as framed sketches and drawings of my studies for the final paintings.

I did a series of ten bowls, each representing a different Japanese animal and woman, and two separate pieces representing Japanese witches/demons.

Here are a few samples of some of the bowls and demon pieces:

You can see pictures of all the pieces and photos from the show here:

If you are interested in purchasing any of the remaining pieces, please see the official gallery site for availability and prices!

I'm working on a piece for an upcoming show at Cactus Gallery themed around insects, and I really want to do something with a scarab beetle with an egyptian girl, hence all the egyptian girl drawings lately : D

Late night doodles

Fact: When I'm up way to late at night, my drawings usually 1. include kitten, and 2. are very, very rough.

By special request

One of my friends suggested I try drawing Josephine Baker, which was an awesome idea! I did this from memory- I couldn't remember much other than her rad hairdo and her banana skirt : D

Hey, a drawing I like!

Finally, something I'm happy with after days of crap doodles! whoo!

Kitten... again!

The thing I love about having a kitten in the house is constantly laughing at how big a goof he is!  He also likes to help me draw, animate, and fold laundry. And by "help," I mean be right in front of. Ha ha ha!

Rough sketch for Cupcakes

For Girls Drawin Girls Vol III, (which is dessert themed), I have cupcakes, so I'm desperately trying to figure out my piece before the deadline!

Here is a really rough idea... I think i want to do different "flavors" of girls posed on cupcakes...
