Home Sweet Home

Source: google.se via Sunny on Pinterest

I have only lived alone once in my life. It was several years ago, while I was attending school. I had a wonderful little apartment about 10 minutes from school that at the time I didn't fully appreciate. I now miss the quiet time that living alone generates, the not living with someone who creates a dictatorship over the thermostat, and not constantly being told were my things can and cannot be placed.

My biggest regret about my former little apartment is that I didn't give it the love it needed and I didn't really make it a home. Knowing it was only a temporary arrangement (yes I view three years as temporary) I barely decorated it. Instead I carried in only the essentials and basic furniture. Never during the three years I lived there did I hang a single item on the walls.

Being the girly girl I am I should have painted the walls pink and brought in every feminine detail I could think of. My apartment should have been filled with sparkly, glittery things and full of warmth and softness. If I am ever afforded a do-over when it comes to my own little place I will definitely do it right next time.

Let's Dance

I have a huge problem with having two left feet and an extreme lack of flexibility. Although, maybe I'll never fulfill my dreams of being able to dance like the people I watch enviously on So You Think You Can Dance I can appreciate the beauty, femininity, and chicness of ballet inspired pieces.

So I encourage everyone to take this opportunity to fill your closet with soft pinks, floaty skirts, gentle metallics, ribbon-tied cardigans, lace camisoles, and sheer leggings.
This pale pink pleated dress is delightful and makes elegance look effortless. Nothing says Swan Lake more than pale pinks, peaches, and nudes.

All Tied Up

As you may be starting to see I am a huge fan of ladylike fashion. And bows are no exception. I love the feminine embellishment and touch of romance they add. Best of all bows can be worn at any size, it doesn't matter how small or big they are, and they can be added to anything from a dress to a headband to a great handbag.

They also immediately make me picture Blair Waldorf (who by the way has been included in numerous lists for best dressed tv character) from Gossip Girl explaining that the bow on a headband should always be worn on the right side. You may also want to consider a little do it yourself project by adding a bow to a boring piece of clothing in your closet or consider wearing a ribbon instead of a belt.

Dressy and Delicate in Romantic Ruffles

There's nothing more romantic or feminine than ruffles. Since ruffles are light and airy they are perfect for Spring. They can be incorporated into your clothes for any type of situation. The pencil skirt below would be perfect to wear to an important meeting at work and the tank tunic would be great to wear while running errands on a Saturday morning. The Ardenb one shoulder dress is my favorite piece. The lilac color is beautiful for this time of year and I can picture anyone dressed in this receiving numerous compliments. The key to ruffles is to keep the other articles of clothing you are wearing simple.

The items pictured below are:
Women’s Lipsy Dress $74
Wetseal Ruffle Diagonal Tank Tunic $20
Forever21 Dress $30
Forever21 Top $20
Forever21 Ruffle Days Umbrella $5.50
Ardenb One Shoulder Dress $78
Juicy Couture Pointelle Ruffled Tank $42
Calypso Sweet Tart Ruffle Skirt $135
Jul Sander Ruffled Trimmed Pencil Skirt $895
